Important Dates

Moving In

Fall and spring check in dates vary slightly from year to year. Make sure to arrive at the correct check-in time. If your program starts outside of regular academic dates, make sure to arrive during office hours. All fees must be paid prior to checking in.

Checking In

Upon check-in, you will go over your License Agreement with a Housing team member before being granted access to your room. This process usually takes around 30 minutes to complete.

Keys

The keys and swipe cards provided to you are high security items. Do not copy, duplicate, or loan these items out. Lost or stolen keys must be reported immediately to the Housing Office.

 Room Checklist

Upon moving in, you will be provided with a Room Checklist to record in writing any defects, damage, or missing items in your room and address any immediate issues in your room or washroom.

Make sure to fill it out thoroughly, since it will be used during check out to ensure that the room is in the same condition as when you moved in. Any damages not recorded on the checklist will be your financial responsibility.

Paying Fees

Having a Sponsor Pay Fees

Your sponsor should be included in the application process. When you submit your application, include a sponsorship letter from your sponsor stating that they will be financially responsible for your fees. Your Housing fees will then be invoiced directly to the sponsor.

How to Pay Your Fees

Pay your housing fees the same way that you pay other college fees.

Using Campus Housing Amenities

Laundry

Main Building

In each laundry room, there are two washers and two dryers. All washers and dryers in the Main Building are card operated. Laundry cards can be purchased or replaced at the Housing office for $5 each. Laundry costs are $2 per load.

Nahoonai-a

Laundry rates for the washers and dryers in Nahoonai-a are included in your Housing fees. The machines are located on the first floor and do not require a card. Wash loads are cold water only, so ensure you purchase a cold-water detergent.

Mail

Mailboxes are on the office wall in the lower lounge of the Main Building, and near the main entrance to Nahoonai-a. Mail is delivered weekdays around 2-3pm. Packages that do not fit in the mailbox will be delivered to the Campus Housing office. Packages that are too large to be held at the office are held in Shipping and Receiving (Room 1-338). You will receive a package slip in your mailbox if this is the case. Please do not go to Shipping and Receiving unless directed.

The Housing parking lot is located behind Campus Housing, just off of 22nd avenue. All lots on college grounds are paid parking. Passes can be purchased through the PayByPhone app, online through Impark (lot code 9890), or at any of the parking meters in the ²ÝÁñÉçÇø campus.

Vehicles in the Housing parking lot must be insured and operational.

Front Lot

There is a small lot at the front of the Campus Housing building which is for staff, accessible parking, pick up/drop off, and loading/unloading only. Overnight parking in this lot is not permitted.

Winter Snow Removal

During the winter there are special parking procedures to accommodate snow removal. Notices about these procedures will be circulated in October.

Moving Out

Your room must be left in the same condition as when you moved in: clean and live-in ready. If you are unsure if your room meets this standard, you can book a room inspection with a member of the Housing team.

1-7 days before moving out

  • Arrange for mail forwarding 2-3 weeks in advance of your move out date (we do not forward mail).
  • Update the school with your new address and/or phone number.
  • Spot wipe the bedroom walls and thoroughly wipe kitchen walls.
  • Wipe all doors, knobs, counters, cupboards, and inside shelves and drawers.
  • Wipe the washroom walls and thoroughly wipe around the toilet, shower, and sink.
  • Unplug the fridge to defrost it the night before your move out date, then wipe it inside and out.

Day Of Moving Out

  • Vacuum or sweep and mop the bedroom and washroom floors.
  • Unplug and wipe inside, underneath, and outside of the microwave.
  • Properly clean the toilet, shower, and washroom counters and drawers.
  • Ensure room and washroom are empty from ALL personal belongings, including cleaning supplies (if there are any items left behind, no matter how small, a minimum $50 disposal fee will be reduced from your security deposit).
  • Collect any personal belongings from storage.
  • Lock your window and deadbolt and return keys directly to a Housing team member, or place them in the key slot on the office door (DO NOT put them under the gate on the desk, leave them in your room, or give them to someone else to return).

Cleaning Expectations

To ensure that your room is cleaned to standard, please use the cleaning checklist. Copies can be provided by the Housing office.

Shortly after your key has been returned to the office, the Room Checklist will be pulled from your file and the staff member who cleans the room will create a report with your checklist.

Security Deposits

Your security deposit will be refunded directly to you with the last address on file within two to four weeks of move out. Damages, misplaced or broken fixtures, and failure to clean will result in charges deducted from the Security Deposit. If cleaning charges exceed the deposit amount, fees will be added to your ²ÝÁñÉçÇø account.
